Bodri is a nagar panchayat town located in Bilaspur district of an Indian State of Chhattisgarh. It is located on the northwestern region of the state and at the latitude and longitude of 23°10 North & 81°26 East, respectively. The boundaries of this town are surrounded by Jabalpur city, in Madhya Pradesh state, to the east and Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh, to the north. The city is located at the distance of 145.2 km from its district headquarters - Bilaspur. Historical Background of Bodri

The historical background of Bodri is dominated by the rules of the Mughals, the Marathas and the Britishers. In 17th century, the city was under the control of the Mughals but once the Mughal Empire started falling, it came under the supervision of the Marathas. They brought several developmental steps in the town in which the most important was the provision of water utilized for agriculture and other facilities. With the growing rule of the British in India, the city of Bodri also came under the British administration who took several reforms especially in the field of academics. A number of English medium schools in Bodri city were established by the end of 19th century mainly because of the power of British rule.

The city of Bodri experiences tropical climate with a mélange of high and low temperatures in all seasons. The summer season remains very hot with an average temperature of 35°C - 45°C. The hottest months during this season are April and May in which the temperature can sometime rises above 45°C. From the end of June or the start of July, the monsoon season starts at Bodri in which the highest precipitation falls in August month and lasts up to September. The winters usually come from the starting days of December and remains up to the end of January. During this season, the temperature can goes down to less than 10 °C. Despite having no railway station, the city of Bodri is well connected to Raipur, the state capital and other important cities of Chhattisgarh state via railway route. The nearest railway station is Singhpur Railway Station which is placed around 9.7 km from this town. Bilaspur Junction Railway Station, which is main railway head quarters, is almost 145 km away from Bodri. While reaching at this railway station, one can book metered taxis or can ride on buses to reach at this town. But perhaps the best way of reaching at this town is roadways.
